William Childers
William Childers was born and raised in Tennessee. He graduated from Grundy County High School in 1993 as the valedictorian of his senior class and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree from Middle Tennessee State University in 1997. He majored in social studies with an emphasis in history and minored in secondary education. He later went and added an emphasis in political science. He taught at Grundy County High School for four and a half years and was an assistant football coach there for three years and an assistant softball coach for one year. After taking night classes, Willie then received a Master of Arts degree from Tennessee Technological University in 2000 in Instructional Leadership with the emphasis area being Administration and Supervision, and then went on and received a Specialist in Education degree, in the same area in 2002, from there as well. Moving to east Tennessee five years ago to be closer to his future wife LeeAnn, Willie taught at Oakdale School for five years. He taught both middle and high school social studies and was the head football coach there for four years. He is a member of the Tennessee Association of Middle Schools and also Pi Lambda Theta. Willie and LeeAnn live in Oak Ridge and Willie is also the part time youth minister at New York Avenue church of Christ, in Oak Ridge, where he and his wife are members.
